Providing support to patients who need a potentially life-saving bone marrow or umbilical cord blood transplant is the overarching goal of the Stem Cell Therapeutic and Research Act of 2005, Public Law 109-129, and the Stem Cell Therapeutic and Research Reauthorization Act of 2010, Public Law 111-264. This goal is accomplished by:
- Helping more patients receive a transplant from an unrelated donor or cord blood unit
- Improving health outcomes for patients receiving a transplant
Performance Standards and Measurements describe how the contractors accomplish these goals for each component of the C.W. Bill Young Cell Transplantation Program. Each contractor reports its performance measurements to the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).
The Program Assessment Rating Tool (PART) measures the performance of every Federal program. PART goals are evaluated by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget.
