Detailed Description for Understanding U.S. Patient Survival Probability Estimates

Sample Report : Acute Myeloid Leukemia – 1st remission
From 2003 through 2008

  • When the patients in this report received a bone marrow or umbilical cord blood transplant, their Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) was in remission after receiving treatment. (Remission means the disease responded well to treatment.)
  • These transplants were performed between January 1, 2003 and December 31, 2008. The data were reported voluntarily by transplant centers in the United States. (More transplants to treat this disease may have been performed, but the data were not reported to the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research® or the National Marrow Donor Program®.)

95% Confidence Interval 1 Year After Transplant: CI = 66.1 - 75.8%This interval represents the statistical certainty of the survival probability estimate, based on the data reported. There is 95% certainty that the chance of a female, autologous transplant, AML patient being alive 1 year after transplant is between 66.1% and 75.8%.
